Introduction

As Cahoots Workshop has a large number of users, we all share the responsibility of maintaining security of the building.  Security is important both for the safety of our people and of our equipment.

Security Cameras

The workshop contains a comprehensive security camera system to provide a record in the case of accidents and to provide evidence in the event of theft, vandalism, harassment, abuse etc.  The cameras may also be used by Cahoots Staff for remotely checking the occupancy and security of the space.  Footage (including audio) and images from the cameras are stored securely both locally and off-site, with only approved Cahoots Staff having access.

Access and Codes

Members will be issued access codes to enter the building.  These codes are unique to each user and the system logs every time they are used:

• Never share your code with anyone
• Never allow other people into the building and workshop - let them use their code or ring the doorbell
  • An exception to the above is if you are bringing in a Safety Buddy. Outside of office hours you can bring in a Safety Buddy in order to meet the two person minimum for using hazardous tools (see Health and Safety Policy). In this case the person will need to have completed the induction, and is not allowed to use tools, equipment or resources.
• Your code may be refreshed from time to time in keeping with the Hopper Home and Cahoots Workshop security policies
• You are required to notify Cahoots staff as soon as possible if you believe your code may be compromised - we will change it

If you have an access code, you are permitted to enter and use the workshop between 7am and 10pm.  Outside these hours nobody may use the space.

Building and Workshop Security

To ensure security of the building and workshop:

• Make sure exterior doors close completely behind you
• Do not use the roller door unless instructed by Cahoots Staff
• Keep the Cahoots Workshop door (with mechanical code lock) closed and locked
